About Krista de Silva

Canadian soprano, Krista de Silva has established herself as a powerful dramatic soprano, recognized for her commanding stage presence and richly expressive voice. After earning a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Calgary, she devoted herself to her passion for opera, earning both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in music from the Schulich School of Music at McGill University.

In recent seasons, Krista has turned to the dramatic soprano repertoire that best reflects her artistic voice. In 2024, she made acclaimed debuts in the roles of Leonora in Il Trovatore with the Macedonian National Opera and Abigaille in Verdi’s Nabucco in Calgary.

Her appearances with the Calgary Opera include The Ballad of Baby Doe and What Brought Us Here. Elsewhere in Canada, she has performed in Carmen with the Opéra de Montréal, in Starmania with the Opéra de Québec, and in Candide with the Regina Symphony Orchestra.
