Alliance Française Calgary - Theatre Un barrage contre le pacifique

A French Literary Classic Adapted for the Stage!

> Theatre

Join us at La Cité des Rocheuses on Tuesday, March 24th at 7:00 p.m. for an exceptional theatrical performance by Maud Andrieux.

Adapted from Marguerite Duras’ novel, Un Barrage Against the Pacific tells the story of a French mother living in Indochina in the 1930s, determined to protect her land against the relentless advance of the sea. More than a tale of survival, the play is a powerful reflection on resistance to injustice and a call to continue dreaming and acting despite overwhelming obstacles.

Through a minimalist and evocative staging, the performance brings Duras’ language to life, revealing a universal story of resilience, hope, and human dignity.

The play is in French with English supertitles.
