About the Artists

Zal Sissokho – Composition, arrangements, kora, vocals
Senny Camara – Composition, arrangements, kora, vocals

Zal Sissokho is a master kora player and vocalist from a prestigious griot family, carrying the Mandinka traditions. Since arriving in Montreal in 1999, he has made a name for himself with his unique blend of Afro-Mandingo rhythms and contemporary Western music. A prolific artist, he has released five albums that explore societal themes through his soulful voice and innovative sound.

Senny Camara is a Senegalese kora player, singer, and composer, and one of the very few women in the world to master this traditionally male instrument. Raised between Sérère traditions and Manding culture, she was deeply influenced by her grandmother and her father, a former Senegalese rifleman. Through her voice, her kora, and her songwriting, she explores themes of hope, unity, peace, and humanity. Her debut EP Boolo and her first album Yéné reflect a powerful artistic journey that blends tradition with a strong commitment to social issues and collective memory.
